CTEP is developing model "Programs of Study" in the Graphic Design, Hospitality Management and Food and Beverage Services pathways, available for district field testing in 2012-2013. This workshop brings together secondary and postsecondary educators, curriculum writers, subject matter experts and members of business and industry in small teams (6-8 people) to align high school courses to National, State and Industry standards and develop rigorous, project-based, industry-aligned curriculum and opportunities for dual/articulated credit at the postsecondary level.

SREB Program of Study Development Workshop

CTEP, in partnership with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), and the NJ Department of Education, Office of Career and Technical Education is developing a Program of Study in Global Logistics/Supply Chain Management that begins in high school and connects seamlessly to high-quality postsecondary programs.

REGISTER NOW: College Curricular Alignment Workshop

RVCC will host a statewide College Curricular Alignment Event aimed at helping successfully transition students from high school to postsecondary education in both Manufacturing (Manufacturing Technology/Manufacturing Engineering Technology) and Construction (Construction Management/Supervision, Civil/Construction Engineering Technology) programs. Faculty from 2- and 4-year colleges with these programs are invited to attend.

College Curricular Alignment Workshop

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) hosted a statewide College Curricular Alignment Workshop aimed at helping successfully transition students in both Graphic Design and Hospitality & Tourism programs from high school to postsecondary education on Friday, November 4th, 2011. Representatives from all public 2- and 4-year colleges were invited to attend, and over 10 institutions participated. The content generated by participants will be used to align high school curriculum to college standards, raise the bar on academic/CTE content at the high school level, set the stage for statewide articulation and create opportunities that will draw students to enroll in high quality college programs.

Led by Kim Green, Director of the National Association of State Directors of Career and Technical Education Consortium, this workshop took place on Friday, August 12th at the Trenton Marriott Hotel in Trenton, New Jersey.
The purpose of the workshop was to update Guidance Directors on national and state initiatives aimed at helping students become career and college-ready, and to gain insight on how New Jersey can enhance Programs of Study.

This symposium was held on May 11, 2011 at Middlesex County College in Edison, sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Education and the Career and Technical Education Partnership Grant at Raritan Valley Community College. The event brought together key leaders from New Jersey public high schools and colleges, state policy makers, and nationally recognized experts in education, to discuss the underlying policies and practices that align secondary and postsecondary expectations in order to enhance student success. The goal of the symposium was to develop action steps to address current challenges in the seamless transition of students from secondary to postsecondary education.
The agenda included presentations and discussion groups facilitated by three nationally recognized education experts: Kim Green, Executive Director, National Association of State Directors of Career and Technical Education Consortium, Katherine Hughes, Assistant Director for Work and Education Reform Research, Community College Research Center, Columbia University and Betsy Brand, Executive Director, American Youth Policy Forum.
Reflect, Transform, Lead: Partnerships to Enhance Career and Technical Education

This statewide leadership conference was held on June 4, 2010 at Raritan Valley Community College. The event provided an opportunity for the state's community college leaders, superintendents of county vocational-technical schools, CTE program administrators and others to engage in a high-level discussion about policies and procedures that lead to student success.
Topics included New Jersey's participation in a federal program to develop a "green" program of study; the impact of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) on persistence; and strategies for effective secondary/post-secondary partnerships.
